Salesforce has announced a new app called Salesforce Anywhere that enables more effective communication within the Salesforce environment. While it’s only in beta testing now, it does offer a richer collaboration experience for Salesforce users.

The app brings chat, alerts, comments, and video directly into Salesforce, rather than being spread across separate disconnected applications. There are lots of external apps currently in use like email, slack and skype, but the conversation thread gets lost and is not connected to the record in Salesforce. Think of anywhere as a turbo-charged Chatter experience!

While Salesforce has always offered Chatter for a collaboration experience and more recently included Quip to expand this experience – utilizing technology from Amazon Chime, Salesforce will now offer a native real-time chat and video experience right from an Account, Opportunity or Case record. Zoom will also be offered as an out-of-the-box integration so that organizations can leverage their video conference technology of choice. Utilizing the power of Einstein, personalized suggested actions are provided to update the things you need to act on. If you receive an alert about an opportunity, suggested actions are provided allowing you to make a meaningful contribution. These suggestions are automatically tailored, based on your previous actions. You also get the standard actions (log a call, create a task, update a record) and can create your own custom actions as well.

When can I get it?

You can sign up now for the Salesforce Anywhere Beta program, which is available now for free to use on desktop (Lightning Experience) and Mobile. As part of Salesforce’s strategic partnership with Apple, they will release a beta native iOS app, leveraging Apple’s best practices with features including Notifications and Accessibility as Salesforce Anywhere continues to evolve. The Android app is currently under development too. The beta version will include Chat, Alerts, and Actions, and will be generally available later this year with a host of other features – including video, user presence which shows real-time activity on a record page, and the ability to connect with customers.
